What does our insurance cover?

Edited

Convelio offers Ad Valorem Insurance (also known as Cargo Insurance), arranged through a top-tier insurer and valid for all transport modes: road, air, and sea. Coverage is based on the declared commercial value of the piece and the quoted shipping cost.

Our insurance protects your shipment in the event of material damage occurring during transport, as well as theft or loss of the piece while in transit. If a piece sustains an issue that can be professionally restored, the insurer may cover restoration costs. If restoration is not feasible, they may reimburse the full declared value. These decisions are made by the insurer based on their assessment of the supporting documentation.

Packaging requirements

Coverage activates automatically when Convelio arranges packing. If you choose to pack the item yourself, just follow our packing guidelines and share clear photos before collection, including the item itself and both the interior and exterior of the packaging, so we can confirm eligibility.

What is not covered

Insurance does not apply to artworks with pre-existing damage or inherent defects identified at the time of collection. If packing is not arranged through Convelio, it must meet our required standards and be approved in advance. Otherwise, the shipment is not eligible for coverage.

Normal ageing, wear present before pickup, and indirect costs such as storage fees or loss of market value are also not covered.

Claim process

Uncrate the artwork promptly after delivery and let us know within 48 hours if anything is wrong. Be sure to take clear photos of the packaging at each stage of the unpacking, and keep all packaging materials. Our team will guide you through the entire process from initial review to resolution.
